Job Description
We are looking for a responsible, customer-focused individual to serve as the first point of contact for golfers and supporting the day-to-day operation of the golf shop. The post will have key holder responsibility, opening and closing the facility when required.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for opening and closing the course shop independently, ensuring the cleanliness and visual appeal of the shop
- Act as the main point of contact for the course: greet and assist members, players and guests in a friendly and professional manner, confirming tee times and providing information as required
- Process memberships and take bookings for tee times using the course booking system
- Respond to telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Provide information about the course, rules and procedures, answering questions to assist golfer needs
- Handle point-of-sale transactions accurately, including cash and card handling and daily cash-up reconciliations and reports. Reporting any discrepancies
- Manage stock levels, merchandising and re-stocking requirements
- Report maintenance, safety or security concerns promptly to Trustees
- Prepare weekly reports for Trustee Board and attend Trustee meetings as requested
- Adhere to the Course’s policy and procedures
People Responsibilities
- Liaise with and direct the work of shop volunteers and/or contractors as required to ensure safe working practices and customer safety
- Ensure all customer interaction is handled professionally and with courtesy, assisting in a quality customer experience on each and every visit, recognising their importance to the business
- Must commit to, support and work within the Course’s safeguarding policies and procedures
- Adopt a flexible attitude to the role at all times, undertaking tasks that assist the Trustees to maintain a competitive advantage.

Qualities/Experience and Training (Desirable)
- Have previous experience in retail, customer service or golf operations
- Dependability and a strong work ethic, able to handle responsibility with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic IT skills including experience with POS and booking systems
- Trustworthy and reliable, with attention to detail
- Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends and holidays
- A Disclosure Check will be required
- An interest in golf would be helpful, but is not essential
