Mechanical Estimator

Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator looking to work on major engineering projects and play a key role in securing future business opportunities across the South West?

At Dalkia Engineering we're looking for a talented Mechanical Estimator to join our established Work Winning and Estimating team in a new role focused on work in the South West region. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of complex building services projects by producing high-quality, accurate, and commercially robust estimates.

What you'll do;

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you'll be responsible for developing detailed mechanical estimates and supporting the delivery of competitive tender submissions. Working closely with the bid team, supply chain partners, and operational stakeholders, you'll ensure all pricing is accurate, compliant, and aligned with project requirements.

This role offers exposure to significant projects across a range of sectors, providing an excellent opportunity to further develop your commercial and technical expertise within a leading engineering business.

Key Responsibilities;

• Analyse tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to identify project requirements.
• Produce accurate mechanical take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
• Prepare pricing submissions covering labour, materials, subcontract packages, and specialist installations.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and wholesalers.
• Maintain enquiry schedules and tender documentation throughout the bid process.
• Assess project risks and opportunities and incorporate them into tender submissions.
• Participate in tender review meetings and commercial discussions.
• Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions, and basis-of-design documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical and multidisciplinary teams to ensure all project interfaces are fully considered.
• Support continuous improvement within the estimating function and maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards.

The ideal location for this role would be around the Bristol location as we have an office in Aztec West Business Park but this role is hybrid and flexible.

What'll you'll bring;

Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator with strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering quality work? Do you have previous knowledge of Mechanical Building Services?

In addition, you will need;

• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
• Understanding of estimating principles and pricing methodologies.
• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable Experience

• Experience tendering large-scale projects valued at £10-30m
• Knowledge of both mechanical services environments.
• A collaborative approach and ability to build strong working relationships.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to identify risks and solutions.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project drivers.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality tender submissions within challenging timescales.
