Dalkia are looking for a skilled Electrical Shift Engineer to join our team at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. This is a critical role focused on maintaining building systems and ensuring environmental conditions are consistently controlled across a high-profile site.

You’ll be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works, supporting the safe and efficient operation of electrical and mechanical systems. This role requires initiative, technical expertise, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Shift Pattern

Full-time | 4 on / 4 off shift pattern.

  • Early Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Late Shift: 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair building support systems including lighting, distribution, and life safety systems.
  • Carry out electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Deliver PPM and reactive maintenance with minimal downtime.
  • Monitor and control environmental conditions via the Building Management System.
  • Respond to breakdowns, emergencies and call‑outs as required.
  • Produce accurate reports, logs and shift handovers.
  • Support subcontractor management and permitting processes.
  • Assist with minor projects, fabrication works and site events/exhibitions.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations (HASAWA) and quality standards.

Essential Requirements

  • City & Guilds / NVQ qualification in Electro-Mechanical or Building Services.
  • 17th Edition BS7671 certification.
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems within building services.
  • LV Authorised Person status.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.

Desirable

  • Air Conditioning (A/C) experience.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Proactive, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Physically capable (manual handling up to 20 kg, working at height, using access equipment).
  • Team player with a strong customer service mindset.
