This is a national role and so will be supporting all of your contracts on a national scale. There will be a requirement to travel.
The Role
To ensure fire safety compliance across a portfolio of facilities, including high-risk nuclear sites, by implementing robust fire prevention strategies, conducting inspections, and supporting emergency preparedness. The Fire Officer will act as a key liaison between facilities management teams and nuclear regulatory bodies to uphold fire safety standards and mitigate risks.
Main Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain fire safety policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and nuclear sector regulations.
Conduct fire risk assessments and ensure timely mitigation of identified risks.
Oversee fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring regular maintenance and compliance.
Lead fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and nuclear-specific fire safety requirements.
Liaise with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and other statutory bodies.
Maintain documentation and records to support inspections and audits.
Facilities Support
Collaborate with facilities teams to integrate fire safety into planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
Advise on fire safety aspects of building design, refurbishment, and construction projects.
Support installation and maintenance of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and access control systems.
Deliver fire safety training tailored to nuclear site protocols.
Promote a culture of fire safety awareness and continuous improvement.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8.00am β 5pm, 40 hours per week
25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays + option of purchasing an additional 5 days holiday every year β this will increase to 26 after 2 years and 27 after 3 years

Qualifications and Experience Required
NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate or equivalent.
Experience in fire safety within facilities management and/or high-risk environments.
Strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation and nuclear safety protocols.
Willingness to travel around the UK & Ireland as and when requested or work requires.
Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
