Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) – Mobile Services Engineer

Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear (covering sites across the North East)

We're looking for an experienced Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) to join our Northern Regional Team.

This is a mobile, hands-on engineering role for an electrically qualified professional with experience working within NHS hospitals, healthcare estates or other critical environments. You'll be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and isolation of low voltage electrical systems, ensuring statutory compliance while delivering an exceptional maintenance service across a portfolio of client sites.

If you're an LVAP who enjoys fault finding, carrying out maintenance and being part of a skilled engineering team, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

Working across multiple healthcare and commercial sites, you'll undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, electrical fault diagnosis and minor installation works, whilst acting as the site's Low Voltage Authorised Person where required.

This is a hands-on engineering role with participation in the on-call rota, making it ideal for someone who enjoys remaining technically involved rather than moving into management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake the duties of the Low Voltage Authorised Person in accordance with site Electrical Safety Rules and HTM guidance.

  • Carry out safe isolation, switching operations and issue electrical permits where appropriate.

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical building services.

  • Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs on LV distribution systems and associated plant.

  • Support minor electrical installation and project works.

  • Carry out inspection, testing and certification where competent.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, HTM guidance and company procedures.

  • Complete maintenance records electronically using CAFM/mobile technology.

  • Maintain accurate asset information and engineering documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, resilience and energy efficiency.

  • Build positive relationships with clients through excellent customer service.

  • Work safely at all times and promote a strong health and safety culture.

  • Participate in the on-call rota.

About You

You'll be an experienced Electrical Engineer with previous experience acting as a Low Voltage Authorised Person within healthcare, NHS or other critical infrastructure environments. You'll have a thorough understanding of electrical safety procedures and enjoy delivering a high-quality maintenance service.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.

  • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).

  • Previous experience as a Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) or Low Voltage Appointed Person.

  • Experience working within NHS hospitals, healthcare estates or other critical environments.

  • Good understanding of HTM 06 guidance and electrical safe systems of work.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, fault finding and maintenance.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Competent using CAFM systems and mobile technology.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 Inspection, Testing & Certification.

  • Experience working to HTM 06-02 Electrical Safety Rules.

  • IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

  • Experience issuing permits to work and carrying out switching operations.

  • Experience within live hospital environments.

  • Knowledge of mechanical building services.

Why Join Dalkia?

  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Opportunity to work on technically challenging healthcare and critical infrastructure sites.
  • Career progression within one of the UK's leading energy services businesses.

  • Supportive, collaborative engineering culture.
