We’re seeking a proactive Building Fabric Maintenance Operative to join our team at Heysham 2 on a permanent basis. This is a hands‑on role responsible for coordinating and delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across multiple disciplines – including civils, building fabric maintenance, carpentry, and plumbing. You’ll contribute directly to maintaining operational excellence by ensuring safety, compliance, and quality standards are met, while working closely with subcontractors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a wide range of civils, carpentry, plumbing and building fabric maintenance across the site.
  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise PPM and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring schedules, standards, and budgets are met.
  • Support other trades across the station.
  • Oversee subcontractors and internal teams, ensuring safe and efficient site operations.
  • Promote a strong safety‑first culture, complying with Health & Safety regulations at all times.
  • Conduct routine site audits and spot checks to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of key facilities, including the training centre, visitor centre, and administrative buildings.

About You

  • You are a practical, safety-focused, and well‑organised professional who thrives in an industrial environment.
  • Your technical versatility and ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders will be essential to your success.
  • Background in one or more of the following: carpentry, plumbing, civils, or building maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety compliance and management systems.
