Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets. All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels. All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

Summary of Role: An Electrician at Dalkia plays a key role within a multi-skilled construction site team, responsible for installing a range of Electrical systems. The role demands a deep understanding of project operations and design, with a focus on delivering high-quality electrical installations that meet exacting specifications. As part of a growing business, the electrician will support project and construction managers, demonstrating both technical expertise and professionalism.
Key responsibilities:
- Electrical Installation: Install electrical systems, wiring, containment (e.g. trunking, conduit), and distribution boards in line with technical drawings and specifications. Fit and connect lighting, power, fire alarm, security, and building management systems (BMS).
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations (e.g. BS 7671 – IET Wiring Regulations). Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
- Quality Control: Deliver installations to a high standard, meeting project specifications and quality benchmarks. Carry out testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues or design clashes during installation. Provide feedback to supervisors or design teams where design improvements are identified. Work closely with other trades (mechanical, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure coordinated MEP installations. Support site supervisors and project managers with progress updates and technical input.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete required documentation, such as test certificates, as-built drawings, and progress reports. Log materials used and assist with tracking labour hours and productivity.
- Tool & Equipment Management: Use, maintain, and store tools and testing equipment safely and efficiently. Ensure proper use of lifting equipment or access platforms when required. Support junior electricians or apprentices through on-the-job training and guidance. Share best practices and contribute to a positive site culture.
Essential Qualifications: One of the following from A and B: AECS Gold Card B One of the following Skills Test AM2 FICACC NSG or ECS HS&E Test.
Desirable qualifications and Experience: City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation, and testing procedures. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. A proactive and problem-solving approach to work.
