Daley Recruitment are seeking a Transport Planner for a Builder merchants based in New Southgate for a permanent position. Your role as a transport planner will be to assist with daily planning of the fleet within the transport department, focusing on route planning and delivering an excellent service to customers with a fleet of up to 20 vehicles. Transport Planner salary will be between £35 - £40k depending on experience.
Role:
- Monday to Friday (Could be required to work one in two or three Saturdays per month)
- Start time will be between 06:30 - 07:00
- 42.5 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Being main point of contact for drivers through phone and text messages throughout the day
- Communicating between different departments in the depot such as Dispatch, Sales and Compliance team
- Route planning using route software and managing real-time changes when required
- Managing the order pickers team to ensure goods are prepared and ready to be delivered by the fleet vehicles
- Working alongside the stock team to ensure products are ready for delivery and communicating this to the customers regarding timing
- Organizing collections from other depots when needed
- Managing fleet compliance to ensure all vehicles are complying
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of driver dispatch/controlling/transport planning experience
- Background in freight/courier industry
- Experience of working within builder merchant would be beneficial
- Understanding of transport regulations and compliance is a must
- Strong IT skills
- Good geographical knowledge of London and home counties
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, organisation and planning skills
