The role:
To support our DC Projects team with detailed site surveys and accurately costed and well thought through technical solutions to deliver major renewal and upgrade projects into National Grid.

What you'll do:
- Understand and translate the client requirements for DC battery renewal/upgrade project works into fully costed technical solutions, generally comprising a commercial offer, technical specification and equipment data sheets with estimated site installation durations.
- Undertake detailed site surveys of all relevant DC equipment at customer sites to support the optioneering and tendering activities.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive site visit reports, including findings and recommendations from the site surveys.
- Use all available information to investigate and recommend best practice / spec compliant DC equipment renewal/upgrade solutions.
- Attend client meetings both at site and via teams.
- Produce RFQ's for sub-contract resources and manage through to costed proposals for inclusion in PMU & technical handover documentation.
- Produce a cost make up/price make up (CMU / PMU) to reflect the client/contract requirements.
- Produce supporting documentation as required by National Grid for contractual handover.
- Support the National Grid Project team in the successful negotiations with the client, to agree acceptable pricing, technical details, commercial terms and conditions and technical content within the business guidelines and at optimised project profitability.
- Communicate effectively to hand over successful project orders to the Project, Engineering, Manufacturing and Installation teams.
- Provide technical support to the Project team throughout the delivery of the project to bring successful conclusion in accordance with the project requirements, including any scope fluctuations and to maximise the profitability.
- Undertake other tasks as requested by the National Grid Project Manager.
Person specification:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate, HNC/HND, or equivalent, in a suitable engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of health and safety general practices including CDM regulations and responsibilities.
- Experience in developing high value projects, particularly in the power industry.
- Commercial awareness.
- High level of IT literacy and experience with spreadsheets and word processing.
