Location: The Mansion, Fore St, Totnes TQ9

Contract: Permanent (year-round)

Hours: 32.5 hrs/week (Mon–Fri, 9:15am–4:15pm)

Salary: National Living Wage (age dependent)

About Us

Rainbow Nursery is part of Daisy and Rainbow Childcare, a long-established local charity offering a nurturing, play-based environment for children aged 3 months–4 years. We focus on creativity, exploration, and building strong relationships with families.

Role Overview

Looking for a fun, rewarding role working with young children? As a Nursery Play Buddy, you’ll spend your day engaging in play, supporting children’s development, and learning from experienced early years practitioners. This is a great opportunity to start or return to a career in childcare, with potential training and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children (0–5 years) through play-based activities
  • Engage in singing, storytelling, messy play, and outdoor activities
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment
  • Support children’s daily routines, including meals and basic care
  • Work closely with the team to meet children’s needs
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining play spaces
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies

Requirements

  • GCSEs (Level 2/3 Early Years desirable but not essential)
  • Warm, friendly, and playful approach
  • Enjoy working with young children
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop

Desirable

  • Early years or child development training
  • First Aid qualification
