We have a new fantastic opportunity for a Sous Chef to join us at Daish's Hotels! Offering a competitive salary of up to £31,941 per annum, based on 45 hours per week and varied shifts working up to 6 days per week, plus incremental and performance pay reviews. We also offer continuous all year-round employment – we don’t close for the winter months! You also get £50 once you have completed basic Daish's training and if you refer a friend, you’ll split £100!
Hours include evenings, weekends and bank holidays, but our kitchen team finish no later than 8.30pm! Breakfast shifts start from 7am. As our Sous Chef, you’ll be responsible for preparing good quality meals for up to 150 guests in a standard 45 minutes service window for both breakfast and dinner. Full training is provided in managing our kitchens, working with set menus, and ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and food safety. You will be part of our Daish's training Academy.
Skills and attributes you will bring to the chopping board:
- Producing food as directed by the head chef and additionally having the potential to produce your own dishes independently, and also as part of the team in the kitchen.
- Assist in the implementation of menus with new or existing creations, ensuring variety and quality of servings for our guests.
- Work in conjunction with the Head Chef to maintain equipment required for the delivery of service standards.
- Training new staff members.
- Assist with monthly stocktaking if required.
- Assist with daily stock replenishment if required.
- In conjunction with the Head Chef, maintain all required legislative records such as the SFBB log, and labelling systems so that internal and external inspections can be carried out at any time.
- Be aware of company Health & Safety policy in your workplace and assist others to help to maintain a safe working environment.
- Experience of working in a commercial environment Kitchen.
- Ability to manage tasks and responsibilities suitable to the role.
- A good working knowledge of culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes.
- Enthusiastic, confident and competent.
- Ability to multi-task and not lose performance level under pressure.
- Learn and continue the values of the organisation and a wish to contribute to them.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety issues relating to kitchen working environments.
- Experience of catering for a Coaching Hotel operation is desirable.
