We are seeking a skilled CAD/BIM Technician to join our dynamic team in a unique hybrid role. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in computer-aided design and building information modeling (BIM) software, along with hands-on experience operating machinery such as vertical mills and boring equipment. This role plays a critical part in supporting both our design and production teams, bridging digital planning with real-world fabrication. The position offers a compressed 4-day workweek (41 hours/week), providing work-life balance without compromising professional engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand project specifications and fabrication needs.
- Create and coordinate BIM models for design, fabrication, and installation workflows.
- Perform vertical milling and boring operations in the warehouse using manual and semi-automated machinery.
- Interpret technical schematics to support accurate machining and fabrication.
- Maintain accurate records of all drawings, models, and revisions to ensure version control.
- Assist in project updates, design changes, and documentation revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project and production meetings to ensure alignment between design intent and physical output.
- Support general warehouse activities as needed, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM software including AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks.
- Experience with 3D modeling tools such as SketchUp and NavisWorks is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience operating vertical milling machines and performing boring operations.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, schematics, and machining tolerances.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in both design and fabrication.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and independently manage tasks.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments and project stakeholders.
- A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, CAD drafting, or machining is preferred.
