Description
We're looking for a junior Finance Assistant to join our small, friendly finance team. This role is ideal for someone studying towards AAT, who wants hands‑on experience across billing, supplier accounts, and everyday finance admin. We’re happy to support your ongoing studies as you develop within the role. Previous finance experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. We’re looking for someone who is organised, accurate and methodical, with a good eye for detail. You should be comfortable working with repetitive data entry and routine finance tasks, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and send customer invoices in line with monthly billing cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Purchase Order (PO) Management: Record and track purchase orders against client and internal requirements.
- Supplier Invoice Management: Accurately input and process supplier invoices, following company approval procedures.
- Staff Expenses: Process staff expense submissions, checking receipts and coding, plus occasional travel bookings (flights and hotels).
- Customer Communication: Respond to routine billing queries in a friendly, professional way.
- Month-End Support: Help with billing reconciliations and reporting tasks at month-end.
- Financial Records: Maintain accurate, well‑organised financial records.
- Process Notes: Keep clear notes on how day‑to‑day tasks are done, to help you and the team stay consistent.
- Team Cover: Provide occasional cover for colleagues during leave.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Good attention to detail and accuracy, especially with data entry
- Well organised, able to manage a to‑do list and meet deadlines
- Friendly, clear communicator
- Willingness to learn and ask questions
Preferred (not essential):
- Studying towards, or interested in starting, AAT
- Familiarity with Excel
- Any prior exposure to invoicing, bookkeeping, or general admin
