As a dynamic and growing accountancy firm with over 1,200 employees, we are seeking a Semi Senior to join our innovative and forward‑thinking Accounts & Business Advisory team, to support the Dains group.
You will be responsible for providing accounting services, including preparing accounts for unincorporated and incorporated entities, from complete or incomplete records and assisting with the progression of trainees.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and personable individual to join a supportive team, where experienced senior members are always available to mentor, guide, and help you grow and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a competent bookkeeping and cloud accounting support to clients, assisting with day‑to‑day queries, software issues etc.
- Develop proficiency in cloud accounting platforms, including Xero, Sage and Quick Books.
- Prepare accurate set of accounts and tax computations for unincorporated and incorporated entities, from complete or incomplete accounting records.
- Assist in the delivery of business advisory services by analysing financial information and identifying trends, risks and opportunities for clients.
- Efficiently plan and manage assignments, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget and to a high standard.
- Assist in supervising and mentoring trainees, sharing technical knowledge and supporting their development.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, demonstrating growing commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Understand and apply basic accountancy ratios and the concept of analytical review to assess business performance for clients and support senior team members to highlight areas requiring further investigation.
- Demonstrate commitment to the firm’s training programme, taking ownership of personal learning and qualification progression.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Education: You hold an AAT Level 4 qualification and are working towards an ACA or ACCA qualification, with knowledge of the main accounting systems in the marketplace.
- Technical
Skills: You have the ability to prepare an accurate set of accounts from complete or incomplete records and be able to make notes for the attention of your Manager.
You have a strong working knowledge of Accounting packages such as Xero.
- Communication
Skills: You are credible and able to build strong trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
You regularly communicate progress and challenges with team members and your line manager.
- Teamwork: Understanding your role in the team, you take ownership of delivery for tasks, planning and scheduling your work to ensure it is completed on time and within budget.
- Strategic
Vision: You demonstrate strategic awareness and are able to apply your knowledge to understand and articulate the wider impact of the Accounts Advisory team to other specialisms.
