We have an opportunity for a Senior Technical Trainer waiting just for you. Reporting into the Head of Training, you will deliver high‑quality, engaging and customer‑centric technical training across the Daimler Truck network, ensuring network truck technicians gain the skills and competency needed to achieve technical excellence, and to support the Technical Training Manager with fostering a positive, collaborative learning culture, to strengthen technician capability and ensure training remains current, effective, and aligned with the business needs.
More about the role:
- Primarily based at the Daimler Truck Academy in Derby with the flexibility to work from the Daimler Truck Training Centre in Barnsley and customer sites where required.
Training Delivery:
- Deliver high‑quality technical training covering diagnostic processes, systems, repair procedures, and Daimler Truck specific technologies for all network technician job roles from Maintenance Technician through to Diagnostic Technician and HV Specialist.
- Coach, assess, and support learners of varying skill levels, ensuring strong knowledge retention and competence.
- Adapt training delivery methods to meet learner needs, incorporating hands‑on, classroom, and digital learning techniques.
- Ensure training aligns with current Daimler Truck standards, legislative requirements, and industry best practices.
- Conduct assessments, practical evaluations, and ongoing learner feedback to ensure progress and qualification readiness.
- Support truck technicians, and dealership staff in achieving competency and meeting programme requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, assessment outcomes, and learner progress in line with internal and external standards.
- Achieve agreed average trainer delivery days to meet business requirements.
Training Development:
- Assist in updating and developing technical training materials, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and relevant.
- Collaborate with the Technical Training Manager to maintain training relevance for the UK market and address current technical topics.
- Implement effective new training content and innovative delivery methods to address knowledge gaps across the Dealer Network.
- Attend all relevant scheduled Trainer the Trainer events hosted by HQ Training department and ensure successful UK Market rollout as directed.
- Implement improvements to enhance the delegate learning experience based on course feedback in collaboration with the Technical Training Manager.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise to enhance existing modules and support new course creation.
- Monitor technical trends, product updates, and diagnostic developments to ensure training accuracy.
Technical Training Manager Support:
- Act as the training lead at our secondary training location in Derby, ensuring seamless operation and delivery capability as directed by the Technical Training Manager.
- Support with training coordination, facility readiness, and equipment maintenance.
- Deputise for the Technical Training Manager when required and provide operational continuity across locations.
- Uphold and promote trainer adherence to safety standards, workshop protocols, and compliance with awarding bodies, Daimler Truck guidelines.
- Actively foster a positive culture and training excellence, encouraging high standards, continuous learning, and pride in development across all training environments.
One Team Culture Accountability:
- Adopt an open‑minded approach and promote a unified team culture.
- While responsible for technical training performance, embrace flexibility in adopting new methods and processes that enhance customer service and support broader Daimler Truck goals.
- Provide technical insight to support wider business initiatives, new product introduction, and network capability development.

About you:
We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician with a strong diagnostic and repair background, combined with the ability to deliver engaging technical training. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of HGV systems, including electrical, driveline, chassis, and diagnostics, and preferably hold recognised teaching or assessing qualifications or demonstrable experience in a training role. Strong communication, coaching and presentation skills are essential, alongside the confidence to deliver training independently and adapt content to suit a range of learners. A solid working knowledge of digital learning platforms and training development tools, as well as basic proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, is also required. You will be highly organised, with excellent administrative capability and a professional, learner‑focused approach. A proactive problem‑solver with a creative mindset, you will be able to develop innovative solutions and adapt quickly to evolving technologies and business needs. As a collaborative team player, you will support leadership initiatives and mentor colleagues where needed. A full LGV licence is required for this role, along with a positive, supportive attitude and a passion for developing others.
