Tasks Senior Buyer role – customer‑facing, reporting to Procurement Manager, supporting Daimler Truck and Bus Procurement Department (indirect goods and services only) in line with policies and processes. Part‑time position (3 days per week) based in Milton Keynes, with weekly travel across the UK to engage with stakeholders and suppliers. Support a new and evolving area of the business, shaping and developing the function while ensuring alignment with the Daimler Global Procurement Policy.
More about the role:
- Represent Daimler Truck and Bus Company in the UK on nominated sourcing projects, developing expert knowledge of respective commodity category.
- Monitor ongoing supplier contracts, including performance, and lead commercial negotiations during tenders.
- Educate and support business units to minimise non‑compliance and promote market competition.
- Meet regularly with business units to identify procurement requirements and implement appropriate processes.
- Ensure the timely raising of PO within systems and support SLAs.
Qualifications:
- High numerate and analytical Senior Buyer with excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including board level.
- Strong understanding of economic principles, the wider economic environment, and organisational dynamics, along with proven experience of contract law and legislation involved in managing formal and negotiated tenders of varying scale.
- Robust negotiation expertise and clear grasp of procurement principles, able to plan, organise, and prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment, adapting quickly to changing business needs.
- Collaborative approach, building strong relationships and working confidently with colleagues and partners at all levels, internally and externally.
