Daily Roar is a start‑up digital media company focused on producing engaging video content about news, current affairs and politics. Our goal is to create quality, accessible content that helps audiences better understand the stories shaping the world around them. Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site role in Durham for a Social Media Coordinator. The Social Media Coordinator will manage and create engaging content for various social media platforms, develop and execute social media strategies, and engage with online communities. Responsibilities include analysing metrics, maintaining brand consistency, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance the company’s digital presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Management
- Manage and grow Daily Roar’s social media accounts (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Schedule and publish daily content across platforms
- Monitor comments, messages and community engagement
- Identify trends, hashtags and viral opportunities
- Maintain brand voice and tone across all channels
- Report on performance and suggest improvements
- Content Planning & Digital Calendar
- Maintain and organise the weekly and monthly content calendar
- Coordinate posting schedules around news cycles and campaigns
- Ensure consistent and timely publishing across platforms
- Track deadlines and manage content workflow
- Short‑Form Video Creation
- Repurpose long‑form YouTube content into short‑form clips
- Write captions, hooks and descriptions optimised for each platform
- Stay on top of short‑form trends and platform updates
- Traffic & Growth
- Support strategies to drive traffic to YouTube and website content
- Optimise titles, thumbnails, tags and descriptions for discoverability
- Assist with SEO and audience growth strategies
- Track analytics and performance metrics
- Help execute campaigns and content launches
- Digital Marketing Support
- Assist with newsletters and audience outreach
- Help with audience research and competitor analysis
- Support partnerships and cross‑promotion opportunities
- Help test and optimise new platforms and growth ideas
What We’re Looking For
- Recent graduate (Marketing, Media, Communications, Journalism or similar)
- Passion for news, politics and digital media
- Strong understanding of major social platforms
- Familiarity with YouTube and short‑form video culture
- Basic video editing skills (Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut or similar)
- Excellent organisation and time‑management skills
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proactive, creative and comfortable working in a small team
