About Lion Landscapes

Lion Landscapes is a large carnivore conservation and research organisation dedicated to supporting the coexistence of wildlife and people. The organisation works with local communities and conservation stakeholders to develop programmes that protect large carnivores, their prey, and natural habitats while supporting the livelihoods and well-being of local people.

Affiliated with Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), Lion Landscapes operates independent conservation programmes in Kenya and Tanzania. Through research, community engagement, and collaborative conservation initiatives, the organisation works to address the challenges facing large carnivores and the landscapes in which they live.

About the Role

Lion Landscapes is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop and implement its corporate fundraising strategy and expand engagement with businesses in the UK and US.

This permanent, part-time position offers an opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a strong background in corporate strategy, business development, fundraising, or partnership development to help secure significant, long-term funding for conservation programmes.

The successful candidate will lead the identification and cultivation of prospective corporate partners, develop compelling partnership proposals, negotiate multi-year agreements, and build relationships with senior corporate decision-makers. The role will focus on aligning corporate business priorities, environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives with Lion Landscapes’ conservation mission.

The Corporate Partnerships Lead will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Fundraising Lead, communications team, finance team, and country-based conservation staff to ensure that partnership opportunities are strategically aligned, financially sustainable, and ethically appropriate.

The position is remote, with UK residence preferred and regular travel to the United States required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Corporate Strategy and Business Development

  • Review Lion Landscapes’ position in the corporate fundraising market, assessing existing donor relationships, funding sources, competitive opportunities, and trends affecting corporate giving.
  • Develop and implement a corporate new-business strategy aligned with organisational fundraising priorities and market opportunities in the UK and US.
  • Research, identify, assess, and qualify prospective corporate partners with the potential to support the organisation’s conservation programmes.
  • Drive growth in corporate fundraising income and work towards agreed multi-year revenue targets.
  • Support the Fundraising Lead in identifying and prioritising high-net-worth individuals who may be suitable prospective donors.
  • Design and develop strategic, multi-year partnership proposals that align corporate objectives with Lion Landscapes’ conservation impact.
  • Prepare compelling pitch decks and partnership presentations to support corporate engagement and contribute to proposals for high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and institutional funders.
  • Lead partnership negotiations and secure new agreements, renewals, and increased funding commitments.

2. Corporate Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders within prospective and existing corporate partners.
  • Manage the partnership development process, from initial outreach and relationship cultivation through proposal presentation, negotiation, and agreement.
  • Develop engagement strategies that demonstrate the value of investing in conservation and establish mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Represent Lion Landscapes at corporate meetings, networking events, and other external engagement opportunities.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to identify partnership opportunities and support fundraising discussions with prospective donors.
  • Maintain relationships with corporate partners to encourage continued engagement, long-term collaboration, and increased financial support.

3. Due Diligence, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Conduct due diligence and ethical screening of prospective corporate partners and major donors in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and Fundraising Lead before pursuing or accepting funding.
  • Ensure corporate fundraising activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including the UK Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice, Charity Commission guidance, and UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
  • Support appropriate sanctions and anti-money laundering screening for corporate and high-net-worth donors, taking into account Lion Landscapes’ operations in the UK, Kenya, and Tanzania.
  • Identify and escalation potential reputational, ethical, financial, and compliance risks to the Chief Operating Officer and Joint CEOs before proceeding with a funding relationship.
  • Help ensure that partnership decisions reflect the organisation’s values, conservation priorities, and commitment to responsible fundraising.

Working Relationships

The Corporate Partnerships Lead will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation.

Key working relationships include:

  • Fundraising team: Reviewing funding opportunities, assessing donor profiles, and developing agreed partnership opportunities.
  • Communications team: Ensuring consistent branding, messaging, and presentation across corporate proposals and engagement materials.
  • Country Coordinators and Local Field Managers: Providing country-level context and insight into conservation programmes and local funding relationships.
  • Chief Operating Officer and Finance Manager: Aligning partnership strategies with organisational priorities, available resources, financial projections, due diligence, and compliance requirements.
  • Senior leadership: Supporting the cultivation and solicitation of major corporate partnerships and other significant funding opportunities.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate the following experience and skills:

  • At least seven years of experience in large-scale corporate strategy, business development, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of securing corporate partnerships valued in the six- and seven-figure ranges and generating new business income in the UK and US.
  • Experience leading complex funding proposals, corporate pitches, and partnership negotiations.
  • Strong financial literacy and the ability to evaluate funding proposals, assess commercial value, and negotiate partnership arrangements.
  • A sound understanding of corporate ESG commitments, CSR strategies, sustainability priorities, and corporate philanthropy trends.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with senior corporate decision-makers and other key stakeholders.
