Are you obsessed with the world of TV and the stars who make it happen? Do you have the vision to look 'beyond the obvious' and create TV content that truly resonates with massive audiences? Can you turn a shock twist on The Traitors into a must-read live blog in seconds? We are looking for a powerhouse TV Editor to deliver distinctive, engaging, and agenda‑setting TV coverage that resonates with digital audiences and strengthens the Mirror and Magazine brands including OK! and New! across all platforms, including site, secure, social, app, and print.

Reporting to the Head of Showbiz (with day‑to‑day direction from senior TV and showbiz desk members), you will pitch, write, commission, edit and optimise stories that address User Needs and are tailored to the most effective distribution channels, including search, Discover, homepage, and social. This is a hybrid role linked to our Canary Wharf hub (3 days in hub per week), so we are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.

What will the role involve?

  • You will drive the Mirror and Magazines TV coverage by commissioning original, agenda‑setting content while ensuring IPSO compliance and brand alignment.
  • You will manage digital shifts, overseeing live broadcasts, breaking news, and exclusive interviews while mentoring a high‑performance team to hit data‑led KPIs.
  • You will forward‑plan major launches and curate multi‑platform features for print and digital, utilising SEO and user‑needs frameworks to maximise engagement.
  • You will package all content with sharp headlines and strategic social distribution across platforms like Facebook and Reddit, ensuring every story and video is legally sound, accurate, and innovative.
  • You will regularly lead digital shifts for TV on Mirror Online, selecting the strongest TV digital stories, allocating to reporters, editing and creating online headlines and liaising with the homepage.
  • You will cover Live TV on shift, during major TV shows such as Traitors and I’m A Celebrity, spotting the strongest lines and breaking news as it happens, taking a multi‑platform approach to all content and giving TV fans what they want.
  • You will build trusted relationships and secure original, exclusive content, while reacting quickly to breaking entertainment and TV news.
  • The role requires speed, creativity, and accuracy, with the ability to spot agenda‑setting angles in a crowded space.
  • This role involves working shifts on a rota basis including 1 weekend in 4 and 1 week of lates in 4, so a flexible approach is required.

Who are we looking for?

  • You are an experienced NCTJ or equivalent journalist and editor with a sharp instinct for TV stories and a proven record of delivering TV to create digital growth.
  • You have extensive experience in a national newsroom or major magazine, ideally at desk‑editor level, where you have mastered headline writing, homepage curation, and digital optimisation.
  • You are highly data‑literate, confident using analytics and 'User Needs' frameworks to inform commissioning and drive engagement across search, social, Discover, and video platforms.
  • You are passionate about all things TV and have a bursting contacts book of TV stars and PRs to march, and possess the communication skills necessary to bridge the gap between creative storytelling and commercial success.
  • You have the vision to lead a team while maintaining the highest editorial standards in a competitive digital landscape.
  • You have a calm, decisive, and innovative approach to leadership, even under the pressure of a fast‑paced digital newsroom.
  • You are an expert at managing, mentoring, and inspiring teams of reporters to produce high‑impact, branded content.
  • You are an effective collaborator, skilled at working across video, social, and commercial functions to ensure our entertainment coverage thrives on every platform.
