Job Introduction

Join the team powering Daily Mail’s 150M-strong social audience across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and more. We’re looking for a sharp, agile Lead Video Editor to help elevate our short-form storytelling – bringing speed, polish, and creative flair to every frame.

This is a hybrid creative-technical role ideal for someone with fast instincts, strong editorial judgment, and deep platform fluency. You’ll play a central role in shaping our most important output – editing stories that break through the noise across verticals including news, showbiz, money, health, and travel.

Main Responsibilities

  • Edit standout short-form and long-form video content optimised for social (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube etc.)
  • Craft fast-paced, visually rich edits using kinetic text, memes, archival footage, and mixed media
  • Collaborate with producers, writers, and on-screen talent to shape strong visual narratives
  • Enhance stories with music, sound design, and motion graphics – ensuring a premium finish
  • Help define the visual identity of new vertical brands, working closely with design and animation teams
  • Maintain fast turnarounds without sacrificing quality — adapting quickly to news moments and viral trends
  • Stay on top of editing trends, platform shifts, and performance data to continuously optimise content.

Person Specification

  • 3–5+ years of editing experience in a digital media or social-first content environment
  • Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro; proficiency in After Effects, CapCut, or similar motion tools a plus
  • Deep understanding of what performs on social – from hook to final frame
  • Strong editorial instincts, with experience across multiple content genres (news, showbiz, creator-led)
  • Fast, flexible, and collaborative — able to work under pressure and iterate quickly with feedback
  • Clear grasp of storytelling through text, voiceover, music, and visual rhythm

Our Commitment

We are committed to increasing diversity and maintaining an inclusive workplace culture. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins), religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

We are Disability Confident Committed. Please let us know if you require any recruitment documentation in other formats or if you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the recruitment process. Please be assured that any such information will be held separately to your recruitment application and will not be considered as part of the selection process.
