About the role
The Daily Mail is looking for a candidate to produce visually compelling graphics for digital and print as a member of our in-house creative team. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for conceptualising, developing and executing designs, collaborating with reporters and section heads from across the title’s departments to enhance our award-winning journalism and engage our loyal readers. There will also be opportunities to design ambitious interactive and immersive stories under the Mail’s DEEP DIVE arm.
Person Specification
- Experience in designing graphics and/or visual storytelling, ideally in the news publishing world
- Have strong design skills and ideally highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
- An understanding of UX and UI and how this ranges from desktop to mobile, as well as how those designs can be adapted for print
- An understanding of motion graphics
- Basic knowledge of front-end languages (HTML & CSS)
- Some experience of manipulating large data sets on Excel, which can be plugged into data visualisation tools such as Datawrapper and Flourish
- Confidence to pitch ideas and constantly thinking about how we can evolve our product
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Have a passion for telling stories and knowledge of the news agenda
