This is a rare opportunity to shape a portfolio of award-winning factual podcasts at genuine scale, backed by DMG’s unrivalled access to stories, talent, and audiences. You'll be the driving force behind everything from investigations to history, politics, and human interest; commissioning and crafting shows that people can't ignore.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Head of Podcasts, you will own the production and delivery of the Daily Mail's full factual podcast slate.
  • Commission and develop new series from initial concept through to launch and beyond.
  • Set and maintain the highest standards of audio journalism, storytelling, and production across all shows.
  • Work closely with the Daily Mail's worldwide editorial teams to identify stories that translate into compelling podcasts.

Team & Talent Management

  • Lead, inspire and line-manage a team of producers, researchers and freelancers.
  • Recruit and develop audio talent, building a team culture that is ambitious, collaborative, and accountable.
  • Identify, brief, and manage on-air talent and contributors, including journalists, experts, and high-profile on-air talent.
  • Define and execute a growth strategy for the factual slate building audiences on Spotify, Apple, Youtube and beyond.
  • Work with the social team to maximise engagement and reach.
  • Monitor performance data and audience insight to inform creative decisions and investment priorities.
  • Represent DMG Podcasts externally at industry events, in press, and with distribution partners.

Production Oversight

  • Hold overall responsibility for delivery: budgets, schedules, and broadcast-quality output.
  • Ensure all content meets legal, ethical, and editorial guidelines.

Person Specification

You're a senior creative professional with a proven track record of making hit factual podcasts shows that have genuinely moved the dial on downloads, conversation, and critical reception. You know what makes a story work, and you know how to get the best out of the people around you. You'll have:

  • Significant experience in audio production, with several years at senior or executive producer level.
  • A strong portfolio of factual podcast or radio commissions you're proud to stand behind.
  • Deep knowledge of the podcast landscape - what's working, what's next, and where the gaps are.
  • Experience managing teams and budgets in a fast-paced media environment.
  • Excellent news judgement and understanding of what Daily Mail audiences care about.
  • Strong relationships across the audio and journalism industries.
  • An understanding of subscription models and both the benefits and challenges they bring.

You'll be:

  • Decisive, calm under pressure, and solutions-focused.
  • Excited by the commercial as well as the creative side of podcasting.
  • Collaborative and generous with colleagues, while clear about standards and expectations.

Why Join Us

  • Shape the output of one of the world's biggest news brands from the ground up.
  • Access to the Daily Mail's unparalleled journalistic network and story pipeline.
