Remote position - with regular travel, ideally based in the North West, North East or Midlands. Dahlia Recruitment - Renewables are working with a growing gas business to recruit for a highly motivated and independent UK Technical Sales Specialist to drive revenue growth across two key areas: the direct sales of industrial gas cylinder assets and equipment, and the development of new opportunities for third-party cylinder filling services. This role is field-based and will involve regular travel across the UK as required as well as working with colleagues at Head office in Liverpool. Ideally you will live within 2 hours of commuting distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities for the sale and supply of industrial gas cylinder assets, equipment, and related services.
- Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from initial enquiry and technical consultation to negotiation and contract closing.
- Maintain expert knowledge of the full product range, including cylinders, regulators, manifolds, and gas handling equipment.
- Deliver persuasive technical sales presentations to potential clients, demonstrating value and return on investment.
Third-Party Filling Business Development (50%)
- Proactively seek out and establish relationships with third-party gas companies that require contract filling services for products such as Argon, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen and Helium.
- Develop a strong understanding of client production needs and technical specifications to present tailored filling solutions.
- Negotiate volume contracts and service agreements for third-party filling, ensuring profitable and sustainable partnerships.
- Act as the primary account manager for all contract filling clients, ensuring high levels of service and retention.
General & Operational
- Manage an extensive UK sales territory, efficiently planning travel schedules, client meetings, and territory coverage.
- Accurately maintain the CRM system with all sales activities, forecasts, and pipeline stages.
- Report directly to the Sales Director on performance, market intelligence, and business development initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
The Ideal Candidate
- Self-Motivated & Independent: Proven ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively and prioritise opportunities without constant supervision.
- Willingness to Travel: Must be comfortable with extensive UK travel (e.g., 3-4 days per week) and regular overnight stays as required to cover the territory.
- Hunter Mentality: Driven by targets, with a track record of successfully generating new business and converting cold leads into high-value accounts.
- Strong Negotiation Skills: Excellent ability to negotiate complex contracts and service agreements with procurement and technical teams.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Gas or Equipment Sales Experience (Highly Desirable): Prior experience selling industrial gases, welding equipment, gas handling systems, or related technical products.
- Technical Aptitude (Desired but not Essential): A background or familiarity with engineering principles, chemical processes, or basic gas thermodynamics will be a significant advantage.
- Academic Background (Desired but not Essential): A degree or qualification in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field is a plus.
- Full UK Driving License: Essential for regular field travel.
