Nordson Test & Inspection, a leading provider of advanced inspection and testing solutions, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Colchester, United Kingdom. You will be responsible for supporting the electrical/electronic design and testing of new X-Ray and Bond Test products as well as the maintenance of existing products. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions will be valued and respected.
Role and Responsibilities- Assist in the design and layout of electrical support systems for X-Ray and Bond Test machinery.
- Design and documentation of electrical panels, PCBs and general machine wiring.
- Basic mechanical design for electro-mechanical elements of machines.
- Practical electrical and electronic prototyping.
- Specification, documentation and management of electrical bills of materials.
- Support and improve electrical design of existing product range.
- Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Several years of experience designing electrical/electronic systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience of designing electromechanical systems (e.g., robotics, production automation etc.).
- Solid experience of working as part of a team on medium to large engineering projects.
- Extensive experience of designing electrical panels for industrial systems (circuit breakers, contactors, etc.).
- Experience of specifying and designing wiring looms for electrical machinery.
- CAD experience (preferably AutoCAD, Inventor, Cadstar).
- Good practical electrical/electronic skills for prototyping/test.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards (IEC61010, NPA79 etc.).
- Team player with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
- A high degree of flexibility in a continuously changing environment.
Regular travel between Aylesbury & Colchester dependent upon business needs. Occasional international travel.
