Electrical Design Engineer in Colchester

Nordson Test & Inspection, a leading provider of advanced inspection and testing solutions, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Colchester, United Kingdom. You will be responsible for supporting the electrical/electronic design and testing of new X-Ray and Bond Test products as well as the maintenance of existing products. • Assist in the design and layout of electrical support systems for X-Ray and Bond Test machinery.
• Design and documentation of electrical panels, PCBs and general machine wiring.
• Basic mechanical design for electro-mechanical elements of machines.
• Practical electrical and electronic prototyping.
• Specification, documentation and management of electrical bills of materials.
• Support and improve electrical design of existing product range.

• Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Several years of experience designing electrical/electronic systems in an industrial setting.
• Experience of designing electromechanical systems (e.g., robotics, production automation etc.).
• Solid experience of working as part of a team on medium to large engineering projects.
• Extensive experience of designing electrical panels for industrial systems (circuit breakers, contactors, etc.).
• Experience of specifying and designing wiring looms for electrical machinery.
• CAD experience (preferably AutoCAD, Inventor, Cadstar).
• Good practical electrical/electronic skills for prototyping/test.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards (IEC61010, NPA79 etc.).
• Team player with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
• Communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
• A high degree of flexibility in a continuously changing environment.

Regular travel between Aylesbury & Colchester dependent upon business needs. Occasional international travel.
