Greenhous DAF Birmingham is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice HGV Technician starting in July 2026. This is an excellent chance to begin a long‑term career in the commercial vehicle industry with one of the UK’s leading DAF dealer groups.
As an Apprentice HGV Technician, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to service, maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles to the highest standards. You will combine hands‑on workshop experience with formal training, gaining industry‑recognised qualifications while earning a salary. This is an entry level role offering on‑the‑job training which is supported by the official DAF apprenticeship training programme. This programme is a three‑year IMI Level 3 diploma in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, managed by Skillnet who are DAF’s appointed training management agent.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, i.e. 40 hours per week, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the servicing and repair of HGVs and trailers.
- Learn to diagnose faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Carry out routine inspections and safety checks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety.
- Develop technical knowledge of DAF products and systems.
Ideally, we are looking for:
- Enthusiastic and keen to learn a technical trade.
- Interested in vehicles, mechanics, or engineering.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Comfortable following instructions and safety procedures.
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
