About D&AD
D&AD is a not‑for‑profit creative organisation that stimulates, enables and celebrates creative excellence through world‑class awards, masterclasses, inspirational content, events and new talent programs. Great creative work drives better outcomes, and creative excellence is achieved through a diverse, inclusive, sustainable industry, doing relevant work and being representative of the communities it serves. Therefore, everything we do is designed to support these values and help the commercial creative industries to be fairer, more inclusive, and more robust to make excellent, impactful work.
You’ll participate in a company culture that fosters creativity, collaboration, equity and innovation, with an active social calendar, wellness program, DEI initiatives and professional development support.
The Role:
As a Senior Email Marketing Executive at D&AD, you will be responsible for creating and executing impactful email campaigns that resonate with our diverse audience including students, emerging creatives & professionals across the creative industries. You'll play a crucial role in enhancing engagement, driving event attendance and promoting our programmes. You'll be performance‑driven, curious by nature and constantly raising the bar on what great email looks like. This could include a campaign, an automated journey or a transactional message.
Key Responsibilities:
- Campaign Management
- Plan, implement and manage email campaigns that evolve with our audiences and ambitions.
- Own and maintain the email calendar, ensuring audiences see the right messages at the right time and that no two sends are working against each other.
- Write compelling content for all email campaigns, with a sharp eye for what makes people open, click and take action.
- Oversee the curation of high‑quality imagery to ensure emails are visually appealing and feel right for each audience.
- Develop and maintain segmentation strategies to deliver tailored content to different audience groups effectively.
- Automated Journeys & Nurture
- Build and manage automated email workflows that guide new leads through a nurture journey. You’ll be responsible for moving them from initial interest to action.
- Own nurture programmes for key D&AD initiatives including journeys designed to encourage applications to programmes like D&AD Shift.
- Manage inbound leads from paid social activity and route them into the right journeys based on behaviour and intent.
- Operational & Transactional Email
- Manage the full scope of email output including the operational and transactional emails that keep our audiences informed at every touchpoint, from confirmations and reminders to programme communications.
- Work closely with teams across sales and product to ensure all email output is accurate and on brand.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required to support the needs of the business.
- Platform & Performance
- Use HubSpot to manage campaigns and workflows end‑to‑end, proactively seeking ways to get more out of the platform.
- Analyse campaign outcomes, using data to inform future strategies, optimise engagement and share learnings across the wider team.
- Stay genuinely curious about trends and best practices in email marketing and bring new ideas to the table.
- Copywriting
- Email is your primary canvas. You’ll write compelling, human copy across campaigns, nurture sequences and operational sends, always with a clear sense of what you want the reader to think, feel, or do next.
- Beyond email, you’re someone who genuinely loves writing and can turn your hand to other formats when needed, whether that’s a punchy paid social ad, a short website update, or a quick landing page headline.
- You bring consistency of tone across everything you touch, helping to maintain D&AD's brand voice.
- You proofread and sense‑check copy across the team’s output, ensuring accuracy and quality in everything that goes out the door.
About You:
- You have solid, demonstrable experience in email marketing and have examples of campaigns you’re proud of and lessons learned from the ones that didn’t go to plan.
- You have hands‑on experience building automated nurture workflows, ideally across both lead generation and programme or product‑led journeys.
- You have proven experience with a CRM platform such as HubSpot or similar.
- You're a strong writer and editor who can craft emails that feel human, not templated.
- You understand email marketing metrics well and use data to make decisions, not just to report on them.
- You bring a positive, solutions‑first attitude. You'd rather find a way than explain why something can’t be done.
- You’re genuinely excited by the creative industries and motivated by connecting great work with the people who need to see it.
- You embrace new challenges and see every campaign as an opportunity to learn something new.
