Dacorum Borough offers a diverse range of environments – commercial, urban, rural, Green Belt and AONB – which provide opportunities to address a variety of planning control breaches.

You will be a motivated and proactive individual responsible for ensuring high standards within a small planning enforcement team. The role involves advising customers on compliance and assessing harm and expediency appropriately, as well as investigating and resolving breaches of planning control. You will work closely with assistant director, head of service, manager and senior management to keep services aligned with council objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and resolve breaches of planning control, including unauthorised works to listed buildings and protected trees.
  • Advise assistants, managers and senior management on allocated services.
  • Collaborate with other services to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Provide high quality customer service and clear, persuasive communication.
  • Adhere to council policies, procedures and the Planning Enforcement framework.
Requirements:
  • Valid UK driving licence and vehicle or frequent access to transport for visits to urban and rural locations.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion and communication skills.
  • Experience or proven capability in planning enforcement or a related regulatory role.
  • Capability to work effectively within a small team and collaborate with senior staff.
  • Successful DBS check – a basic disclosure check will be required.
