An opportunity has arisen within Environmental Services for an Environmental Compliance Officer. You will provide a high-quality front-line specialist service focusing on compliance. The Environmental Compliance Officer will support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Waste Services ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).

The role plays a key part in ensuring environmental compliance across operational waste and environmental services, waste transfer site and depot, promoting best practice, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement. You will act as an advisor to the Assistant Director, Heads of Service and senior management on the allocated service.

Working closely with operational teams, contractors, and management, the post holder will undertake site inspections, audits, and compliance activities to ensure environmental legislation, Duty of Care requirements, and organisational standards are consistently met. The ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with colleagues and contractors is required. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to achieve defined performance targets.
