To coordinate and manage the administrative processes involved in international road freight shipments for both import and export operations. The role ensures shipments are handled efficiently, comply with all legal and customs requirements, and meet customer expectations while supporting smooth day-to-day transport operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, book, and monitor international road freight shipments from start to finish, ensuring efficient and timely delivery.
- Organise collections and deliveries through internal networks and external transport partners.
- Create and process shipments accurately, preparing all relevant freight documentation (Consignment Notes, CMR, Bill of Lading, EUR1, customs paperwork).
- Coordinate with hauliers, warehouses, and customs agents while monitoring shipment progress and resolving delays.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers, providing shipment updates and handling queries.
- Enter and verify shipment data within freight systems, supporting invoicing and cost control by reviewing transport charges.
- Ensure all shipments comply with Incoterms, customs regulations, EU requirements, and company policies.
- Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and maintain accurate records.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in international import and export road freight operations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
- Good understanding of freight documentation (e.g., CMR, Bills of Lading, customs paperwork).
- Knowledge of Incoterms and general customs procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and partners.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when processing shipments and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Confident using freight management systems and general IT applications.
- A proactive and problem-solving approach to resolving operational issues.
