Purpose Of the Role: The purpose of this role is to support the efficient operation of the Transit Terminal by carrying out a range of operational activities. This includes handling goods, coordinating loading and unloading, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining health and safety standards. The role is key to ensuring timely, accurate shipments and supporting the overall performance of the terminal team.
Responsibilities:
- Picking goods from the hall and preparing for dispatch
- Loading and unloading shipments efficiently and safely
- Operating various types of forklift trucks and scanners
- Inspecting goods consignments for damage, transport restrictions, hazardous materials, labelling, dimensions, and packaging
- Scanning and moving goods within the terminal
- Securing loads, distributing weight appropriately, and ensuring product‑appropriate loading
- Accurately documenting interfaces and handovers
The ideal candidate will have:
- Valid forklift license with experience operating various forklift types
- Experience with scanning systems and warehouse technology
- Knowledge of loading, unloading, and safe load securing practices
- Ability to inspect goods for damage, labelling, packaging, and transport restrictions
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a warehouse/terminal environment
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
