Purpose Of the Role:
We're looking for a Transit Terminal Shift Co-ordinator to drive efficient daily operations and oversee inbound and outbound freight, ensuring safety, compliance, and best-practice processes. You'll use quality control tools to maximise profitability and service, while coaching and developing your team to build a strong, high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and communicate daily tasks for the team, ensuring smooth operations
- Maintain health, safety, and site security standards, including compliance with site rules
- Uphold quality standards and deliver excellent customer service
- Support the TT Shift Leader by ensuring reporting procedures and SOP compliance
- Manage load yields to maximise profit and monitor performance indicators to meet targets
- Liaise with other departments across Rochdale, the UK, and the wider branch network
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members, including conducting appraisals and integrating tasks
- Lead pre-shift and end-of-shift briefings, and ensure effective handovers
- Maintain continuous communication with internal contacts via email, phone, and in person
- Oversee vehicle departures (SD, Export, LD) and arrivals/unloading (SD Import, LD Inbound)
- Manage staff and driver interactions, absence management (holidays/sickness), bay operations, and trailer movements
- Monitor MHE operations, including battery care and daily inspection
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of consignments
- Report damages, investigate accidents, and implement accident prevention measures
The Ideal candidate will have:

- Confident problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Excellent IT capability
- A strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
- Highly adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Confident, approachable, and professional in manner
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team
- A minimum of 2 years experience within an MHE operational environment or similar
- Proven team leadership and team-building skills
- Strong conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and professionally
