Solicitor/Associate role in Professional Indemnity within the Professional & Commercial Risk team in Newcastle. An opportunity seeking solicitors/associates with an interest in professional liability to contribute to the team’s growth, collaborating with our wider practice in the North, nationally and internationally. The team acts for insured professionals and major insurers in the defence of claims, handling the full spectrum of insurance work from policy coverage and recovery to strategic advice.
Key Responsibilities- A mixed workload of professional negligence claims against a wide variety of professionals
- Conducting both pre-action and litigated matters, and assisting more senior fee earners
- Reviewing documents to analyse facts and issues, identifying next steps; running disclosure exercises; drafting witness statements
- Understanding and applying alternative dispute resolution, including mediation
- Opportunities to liaise directly with experts and counsel
- 0–4 years PQE, with interest or expertise in professional indemnity
- Open to transferable backgrounds in areas such as personal injury, property litigation or commercial litigation
- Strong relationship and client-handling skills, commensurate with experience
- Good level of self-sufficiency, able to manage a caseload commensurate with experience
- Attention to detail and creative problem-solving
- Change-oriented with a positive, flexible approach to new initiatives
- Team-oriented and collegiate, willing to share knowledge and support other team members
- Willingness to work hard as part of a highly ambitious and driven team
