An opportunity in our Professional and Commercial Risk team in Manchester may be for you. We are seeking experienced senior Professional and Financial lines qualified lawyers. You’ll play an active role in the continued growth and success of the team, in collaboration with our wider practice in the North, nationally and internationally.
Our team acts for all the major insurers and insured professionals in the supply chain, and deals with the full spectrum of insurance work from policy cover, recovery and strategic advice to insurers. We deal with high value, complex and interesting claims which are sometimes international in nature. Our focus is always on achieving the best outcome possible for the client. Responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact for clients, manage a caseload and supervise junior members of the team along with supporting Partners in larger matters.
- Conduct both pre-action and litigated matters and assist more senior fee-earners.
- Advise insurers on coverage across a range of insurance policies and issues.
- Report to insurers and conduct work according to insurer protocols and SLAs.
- Participate in and initiate marketing and business development activity to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients, including presenting and assisting in client and external seminars and writing articles.
- Provide supervision and coaching to junior fee earners.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through training, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with firm protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management when supporting others in managing files and in relation to own files, where appropriate.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A qualified UK Solicitor at Senior Associate (or Legal Director) level with extensive experience of Professional and Financial Lines, including professional indemnity coverage issues.
- Good numeracy and an interest in financial/money related matters and tax.
- Strong relationship and client-handling skills, commensurate with experience.
- A good level of self-sufficiency, managing a caseload commensurate with experience.
- An eye for detail and creativity in problem-solving.
- Change-oriented, with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
- Team oriented and collegiate, with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
- Willingness to work hard as part of a highly ambitious and driven team to help it continue to develop and to achieve its objectives.
