8DB, the integrated barristers chambers within the DAC Beachcroft group, was founded and developed by industry leading barristers for the in-house advocacy model. The aim of the team is simple: to bring the services of the Bar to our clients via a streamlined and quality service. Our team of barristers and advocates, centrally clerked, work with both internal and external clients to deliver the advisory, drafting and advocacy they might otherwise instruct chambers for.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our integrated barristers chambers, 8DB, to work within the clerking team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The purpose of the role is to ensure that a high quality service is provided to all clients and to ensure a high standard of support is provided for all our Barristers and Advocates. Whilst we are ideally looking for an experienced Clerk, we also welcome applications from those looking to start their clerking career with our support, guidance and training. The preferred locations for the position are Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester but we welcome applications from candidates nationwide. Given our firms’ flexible working policy location will not be a restricting factor to applications. Experienced clerks will be able to work fully remote.
What you will do?
- Taking telephone enquiries from clients and colleagues.
- Dealing with all email enquiries and allocating the work to the appropriate team member.
- Assisting with the diary management of the barristers.
- Ensuring that all hearings/paperwork have fees agreed where appropriate.
- Reviewing the diary regularly to check what trials remain effective and ensuring that all unallocated bookings are booked according to what capacity becomes available.
- Working in a team efficiently and accurately to ensure that all the bookings are allocated in a timely manner.
Who you are
We are looking for the right person to fit with our business and vision for the employed Bar of the future. You will be innovative, creative and forward thinking, in both how you conduct yourself but perhaps more importantly how you shape your professional outlook. The years you have been working in the profession are not as important as the experience that you have gained along the way or the character that you possess.
Please note that the application process will be conducted blind.
What's in it for you?
- High levels of flexibility and a great work life balance.
- A well-rounded remuneration package (which includes private medical insurance, income protection insurance and discounted gym membership, amongst many other benefits).
- Opportunities for growth and progression including professional funding.
- In person and remote social events.
- Opportunity to get involved in a range of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities.
We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, which aligns closely to our cultural principles (Determined, Clear, Creative and Supportive). If you are excited about this role and being part of our culture, but your past experience does not align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles! We are happy to talk flexible working with our Flex Forward scheme. We would encourage you to talk to us about our approach to flexible working during the hiring process if you would like to explore this further.
