Our market-leading Regulatory Team are specialists in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) work. We employ over 30 specialist lawyers across a number of key locations. We are looking for candidates who are interested in advising clients during investigations by the Police and regulators such as the HSE, Local Authorities and SEPA, defending those subject to prosecution and representing participants of Fatal Accident Inquiries.
The successful candidate would ideally have experience of advising clients subject to regulatory enforcement, criminal court advocacy and the ability to organise and manage cases involving complex investigations.

PositionWe are looking to strengthen the team in Glasgow with the addition of a solicitor (3–5 days a week).
Responsibilities- Work on a busy and varied case load encompassing a range of contentious and non-contentious regulatory issues for a variety of clients.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge by working alongside experienced colleagues, through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society of Scotland CPD requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for clients working in accordance with client protocols, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.
- Assist with business development activities with a view to developing and establishing contentious and non-contentious work streams for the firm.
- Where appropriate assist in the preparation and delivery of pitches, presentations and training events.
- Demonstrate sound file management – to include compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols and any client protocols as required; consistent and accurate billing and credit control; management of WIP and file closures; updating Management Information.
- Assume responsibility for accurate and timely management reporting and information.
- Maintain an understanding of other practice areas and develop an active internal network.
- Solicitor with 0–5 years PQE. We will consider more experienced candidates if they have relevant experience and proven technical ability.
- It is beneficial (but not essential) to have experience of advising on regulatory matters, and appearing in court.
- A willingness to travel at short notice in order to assist clients managing situations on the ground as they happen – driving licence essential.
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical and technical skills.
- Meeting budgetary requirements in terms of both time and fee income.
