Overview
Experienced Paralegal – Property / Motor Recoveries role at DAC Beachcroft. This is a permanent position based in Birmingham. Depending on experience, you may be asked to come into the office up to 5 days a week before moving to a hybrid model after successfully passing probation. The CSG – Property team works with over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work.
- Screen matters for prospects and liaise with clients upon receipt of instructions.
- Review instructions and provide client advice on case prospects.
- Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards.
- Instruct experts and counsel, draft Witness Statements and other Court documents.
- Maintain contact with clients and their customers while proactively managing their expectations.
- Meet individual performance measures (financial performance, realisation rates and other KPIs).
- Ensure that the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards are maintained.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
We are seeking candidates with prior paralegal experience or backgrounds in similar roles, such as Legal Assistant or Legal Administrator. While experience in Motor and/or Property Insurance is preferred, we welcome applicants with expertise in other areas of law.
- Confident in independently managing your own caseload, with a strong understanding of case progression and client care.
- Prioritisation and organisation skills – the ability to structure your time well, prioritise work effectively and recognise when to ask for help.
- Interpersonal skills – the ability to liaise with clients, intermediaries and colleagues on the phone and in person.
- Analytical skills – the ability to critically assess factual evidence, identify key legal arguments and apply the same.
- Commercial sense – the ability to know the principle or law and when it is worth pursuing.
- Resilience – the ability to withstand negotiation pressures and receive feedback.
