We are looking to recruit an Associate to join our highly regarded Construction Professional Indemnity (PI) team. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow a key part of the firm's insurance and construction disputes offering, working closely with colleagues nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Based in our London office, the successful candidate will join a prestigious and expanding Construction PI practice.
  • You will work on complex, high-value matters involving a broad range of construction professionals and insurers, including:
    • Defending claims brought against construction professionals such as architects, engineers, design & build contractors, project managers, quantity surveyors and specialist consultants.
    • Acting for major insurers, Lloyd's syndicates and global brokers.
    • Advising on policy coverage, notifications and strategic claims management.
    • Managing disputes involving alleged professional negligence, errors in design, cost overruns, defective work, delay, oversight and project management failures.
    • Supporting insurers and insureds on risk mitigation and pre-action strategy.
    • Handling formal dispute resolution processes including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and negotiated settlements.
  • You will be part of a collaborative London-based team while working closely with colleagues across the UK and internationally on multi-jurisdictional matters.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4-7+ years PQE with a strong track record in Construction Professional Indemnity and/or professional negligence litigation.
  • Experience acting for insurers or insureds in PI disputes (construction sector experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, professional duties and technical documentation.
  • Excellent legal analysis, drafting and case management skills.
  • Confidence in dealing directly with insurer clients and construction professionals on day-to-day matters.
  • A team-focused approach with a willingness to share knowledge, supervise junior colleagues and contribute to team development.
  • Strong commercial awareness and willingness to engage in client development and wider business strategy to support growth of the Construction PI practice.
