DACB's Health, Care and Public Law Team provides legal advice and training to a wide range of organisations operating in the health and social care sector, including NHS Trusts, independent sector providers, charities, commissioners and investors.

The team is highly rated in Legal 500 and Chambers and recognised as a broad range of specialists and first‑class experts.

We currently have an opportunity for a solicitor to join our team to undertake a broad range of health regulatory and advisory work.

The role will include supporting clients on matters such as inquests and inquiries, regulatory investigations, mental health and mental capacity‑related work, and wider advisory matters affecting health and social care organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a varied and interesting workload with an appropriate level of supervision.
  • Advise and support clients on a range of health regulatory matters, including inquests, regulatory and advisory work.
  • Act as a lead point of contact for clients, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.
  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of people including clients, courts, regulators, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Support marketing and business development activity within the team, e. g. attending marketing events and client training.
  • Build an awareness of the firm’s other services and develop effective internal and external networks.
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firm’s data security protocols.
  • Exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with previous experience in health regulatory or a related practice area.
  • Experience advising clients in the health and social care sector, particularly in inquests, regulatory investigations, healthcare advisory work, mental health, mental capacity and Court of Protection matters.
  • Excellent relationship and client handling skills, able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day‑to‑day issues.
  • Highly motivated, sharing our commitment to providing excellent service to our clients across a range of complex legal issues.
  • Ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an academic approach to legal issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
  • Team oriented with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
