Overview
In this role you will support the growth of the financial professionals team in Bristol by handling professional indemnity claims for high-value, complex matters. You will work closely with insurers, clients, and experts to manage pre-action and litigated matters, while upholding insurer protocols and contributing to business development. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and requires a client-focused, commercial mindset. You’ll help shape the practice by handling a mix of insurance coverage advice and regulatory-facing matters, with opportunities for progression within a Tier 1, leading team.
Responsibilities
- Manage pre-action and litigated professional indemnity matters under supervision
- Advise insurers on policy coverage and related issues
- Serve as a primary contact for clients and liaise with experts and counsel
- Coordinate disclosure exercises and draft witness statements
- Provide client-ready updates to insurers and adhere to insurer protocols and SLAs
- Support marketing and business development, including client training and article writing
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through CPD and publications
- Ensure billing and credit control compliance following firm protocols
- Collaborate with wider practices (corporate, white collar crime, cyber) to support cross-team needs
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor with 0–4 PQE
- Experience with professional indemnity claims (especially financial professionals) and advising on coverage is highly desirable
- Strong numeracy and interest in financial/money matters and tax
- Solid academic track record (degree and CPE/LPC or equivalent)
- Excellent client handling and relationship skills
- Ability to work independently while understanding boundaries of competence
- Client-focused, commercial mindset with quick on-the-job learning
- Team player with willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues
