DACB's Employment team acts for a range of market‑leading clients across the financial services, healthcare and commercial sectors. The Bristol team is part of DACB’s national employment, pensions and immigration team of over 120 lawyers spread across London, Bristol, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester and Dublin, and is one of the largest employment law teams in the country. The Bristol team works closely with the London team and also serves clients in the South West England market, covering a broad spectrum of sectors including financial services, household name corporates and the public and independent health sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake a busy and varied workload of employment matters, advising all types of employers.
- Work on complex discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract litigation (Employment Tribunal and High Court) under appropriate supervision.
- Assist on non‑contentious projects including restructures (redundancy and TUPE) in the UK and across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide general employment advisory work by telephone and email.
- Take an active role in supervising the work of and assisting in the development of trainees and paralegals.
- Take part in and initiate marketing, networking and other business development activities to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients, including assisting with client seminars and delivering training.
- Contribute to non‑fee‑earning activity as appropriate, such as knowledge sharing and internal training.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor with ideally 2‑5 years PQE.
- Experience advising clients in the financial services sector, multi‑national commercial clients and/or some public sector clients.
- Experience working on tribunal claims and other contentious matters.
- Independent thinker focused on generating commercial solutions for clients.
- Confident communicator with the ability to develop relationships with clients and influence at all levels.
- Enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach.
