We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to define and lead the organisation's target-state data architecture, ensuring our data landscape supports business growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and future AI-driven innovation. This is a strategic role at the heart of our data transformation journey. You will be responsible for designing the frameworks, standards, and technology architecture that connect core business systems across case management, finance, CRM, analytics, and AI platforms. Working closely with senior technology and business leaders, you will help shape a scalable and sustainable data ecosystem that reduces integration complexity, improves data accessibility, and enables advanced analytics and predictive capabilities.
As our Enterprise Data Architect, you will:
- Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Design integration strategies and architecture patterns that connect case management, finance, CRM, document management, and analytics systems.
- Drive adoption of modern integration approaches, favouring API-led and event-driven architectures over point-to-point solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies for the organisation's data platform, including data warehouses, lakehouses, master data management solutions, and API frameworks.
- Design the data foundations required to support AI and machine learning initiatives, ensuring high-quality, trusted, and accessible data.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Data Governance, and Analytics teams to ensure architecture standards are consistently applied.
- Define enterprise data security and access architecture in collaboration with data governance and information security teams.
- Produce and maintain architecture roadmaps, standards, and documentation.
- Support the CTO, Enterprise Architecture function, and Head of Data & Analytics on major transformation programmes, platform migrations, and strategic technology decisions, including vendor selection.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise data architectures in complex or regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of modern data platform patterns, including: Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Lakehouses, Data Mesh concepts, API-led architectures, Event-driven integration patterns.
- Experience architecting solutions that support both operational reporting and advanced analytics, including AI and machine learning workloads.
- Strong knowledge of Azure-based data platforms and cloud architecture principles.
- Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) frameworks and technologies.
- Experience integrating multiple business-critical systems within a hybrid technology environment.
- Ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term architectural strategy and technical sustainability.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience producing architecture standards, roadmaps and governance documentation.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of case management systems, CRM platforms such as Dynamics 365, and finance or billing solutions.
- Experience supporting large-scale cloud transformation programmes.
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Relevant architecture certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
- Experience within insurance, legal services, claims management or financial services is desirable but not mandatory.
