Paralegal – Motor Injury / Credit Hire

Department: CSG – Casualty (EL/PL / CAT PI / Disease / Fraud / Motor / Credit Hire)

Description

We are looking for a number of Paralegals to join our market leading CSG team that works with over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates. This role will be situated in Birmingham on a permanent basis.
You will be required to attend the Birmingham office 5 days a week during your probation. You will be able to discuss a hybrid arrangement with you manager once you have passed probation.
Who\’s the team?
We have roles available across two of our core teams in Birmingham:
  • Our Motor Injury team deals with motor injury claims of all values and complexities. We have a progressive approach and a market leading reputation for not simply tackling litigation, but also for tracking and analysing behaviours and trends with a view to providing our clients with bespoke strategies and analysis of changing market behaviours.
  • Our Credit Hire and Repair team deals with all aspects of defendant credit hire dispute resolution, providing an end to end solution. We also provide pre-emptive advice on these issues whilst also assisting clients formulate their own strategies. Our claims vary from small track to multi track including fraudulent claims. We deal with liability, indemnity and associated losses including personal injury, credit repair and diminution.

What you will do?

You are expected to provide a timely, professional and high-quality service to our clients in the management of claims. Depending on your role, and with the support of a supervisor and team manager you will be expected to:
  • Be responsible for a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work.
  • Screen matters for prospects and liaise with clients upon receipt of instructions.
  • Review instructions and provide client advice on case prospects.
  • Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards.
  • Instruct experts and counsel, draft Witness Statements and other Court documents.
  • Maintain contact with our clients and their Customers whilst proactively managing their expectations.
  • Meet individual performance measures (financial performance, realisation rates and other KPIs).
  • Ensure that the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards are maintained.

We are happy to hear from graduates or those with customer service/retail experience who are team players and have the passion for learning. We\’d also like to hear from Paralegals who may already have experience working in a legal environment.
You will have;

  • Interpersonal skills – communication skills to liaise with clients, intermediaries and colleagues on the phone and in person.

  • Commercial sense – The ability to know the principle or law but also know when is it worth pursuing it.
  • Resilience – The ability to stand their ground in a telephone negotiation and to receive feedback.

This will be a 2 stage application process, the first stage is CV review with successful candidates being invited to a face to face assessment centre in our Birmingham office.
