DAC Beachcroft's Health, Care and Public Law Team provides legal advice and support to a wide range of organisations operating in the health and social care sector, including NHS Trusts, independent sector providers, public sector bodies, charities, commissioners and investors. The team is highly rated in Legal 500 and Chambers and recognised as a "very broad range of specialists and all, without exception, first class experts and great to work with".
We are keen to hear from talented qualified lawyers to join our team, with particular focus on working with our established health and social care team in delivery of advice to clients and management of our client relationships. The team plays an important role in DACB's broader Health practice, which is widely recognised as the leading strategic, commercial and regulatory legal adviser to the health and social care sector in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and learn from top subject area specialists, whilst also gaining wider experience of working in the legal sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a varied workload in accordance with client protocols and with an appropriate level of supervision.
- Act as a point of contact for clients, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.
- Exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.
- Maintain an awareness of the appropriate limits of own competence/authority.
- Actively identify and exploit business development opportunities and marketing activity for team clients and own contacts.
- Aim to achieve a minimum budgeted annual target chargeable hours per year.
- Participate in and initiate marketing/network activities in order to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients. This includes presenting and assisting in client and other external seminars, taking part in pitches and contributing positively to business development.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through leading and attending training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements.
- Handle confidential data in line with the firm's data security protocols.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A qualified solicitor (up to Senior Associate level) with a keen interest in health and social care, life sciences, medtech and digital health.
- Experience advising health, life sciences and public sector clients is highly desirable.
- Confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships with clients and influence at all levels.
- Excellent technical drafting skills and strong client-focused approach with practical, risk-based advice.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues and external advisors.
- Change oriented with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
- Excellent academic background.
- Ability to adopt a client focused and commercial perspective to legal issues.
