We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our market leading, lawyer led claims handling service in our CSG Corporate Insurance and Risk team. The successful candidate will be working in the retail and consumer sector; handling claims arising from the operation of motor fleets from retail operations.

As a Paralegal in the team you will be looking after a litigated case load under supervision including OIC/MOJ Portal, Small Claims and Fast Track Motor Litigation. The work will involve claims for personal injury, repairs and credit hire. We work with a range of corporate and insurer clients and are proud to act for household names and to work with major UK retailers. We are a team of over 60 working across two locations in Newport (South Wales) and Leeds. We are committed to delivering a high quality claims handling service to our clients. We value team work, professionalism, and integrity. The successful candidate will be based out of either our Leeds or Newport office 5 days per week during probation.

What you will do?

  • You are expected to provide a timely, professional and high-quality service to our clients in the management of claims.
  • Run and assist a varied case load of litigated work with the appropriate levels of supervision. These will include cases where liability is disputed and will also include attending Court / Counsel.
  • Hit, maintain, and apply a consistent approach to all individual targets of financial performance, realisation rates, settlement rate and average claim spend.
  • Assume responsibility for quality control and benchmark compliance on own caseload, including accuracy and timeliness of management reporting and information.
  • Maintain an awareness of firm's procedures and strategies.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications.
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.

Desirable:

  • Experience in handling or assisting in motor litigation claims is desirable but not essential. However, the successful candidate is likely to have at least experience of handling or assisting in such claims on a pre-litigation basis.
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as to work with and learn from supervisors and other members of the department.
  • A team player with a flexible and self-motivated approach.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet required deadlines.
