We are open to applications from both internal and external candidates for this opportunity. If you are currently an employee of the firm looking to apply for a Trainee Solicitor role please apply via the internal job posting. If you are not currently an employee of CSG, you will initially join us as a Paralegal for a six-month period and following successful completion of your probationary period, you will then be able to move to a Trainee Solicitor contract. Please note, this role will be based out of our Glasgow office and you will be expected to attend the office 5 days per week during your probationary period.
The role sits within our specialist Vehicle Hire and Damage team, which currently comprises an Associate, one Solicitor, and four Paralegals.
What you will do?
- With an appropriate level of supervision you will be working on general vehicle hire and damage defender cases, predominantly simple procedure and ordinary cause claims.
- Task based activities on claims for solicitors, carrying out preliminary investigations and evidence gathering.
- Drafting letters and reports to clients.
- Negotiating damages and legal expenses with third party loss adjusters, insurers and solicitors.
- Research tasks and analysis of documents in order to provide advice to other team members or direct to clients.
- Working on cases which are solely Defender based in nature.
Who you are
- An existing Paralegal at DAC Beachcroft who is keen to progress into a Trainee Solicitor Role or an external candidate looking for a training contract - after successful completion of your probationary period.
- In order to be eligible to start your training contract, you must have the relevant prerequisites with the Law Society of Scotland.
- Be highly organised and a confident communicator with an outstanding eye for detail.
- Be interested in and preferably have a basic understanding of insurance litigation.
- Be IT literate, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous knowledge or experience of a case management system would be an advantage but not essential.
- Be team orientated, with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
- Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an 'academic' approach to claims settlement.
- Demonstrates alignment with the Firm's Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive).
Whatβs in it for you?
- High levels of flexibility and a great work life balance.
- A well-rounded remuneration package (which includes private medical insurance, income protection insurance and discounted gym membership, amongst many other benefits).
- Opportunities for growth and progression including professional funding.
- In person and remote social events.
- Opportunity to get involved in a range of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities.
We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, which aligns closely to our cultural principles (Determined, Clear, Creative and Supportive). If you are excited about this role and being part of our culture, but your past experience does not align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
