The Events Manager is responsible for leading the strategic planning, governance and delivery of the firm’s events programme, ensuring all activity supports the firm’s business development priorities, brand standards and client experience expectations. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing Team Leader, the role acts as a trusted adviser to partners, senior lawyers and BD leaders, providing expert guidance on event strategy, format, risk, investment and return. Operating within a central marketing function, the Events Manager oversees delivery across regional, national and international events in a complex, stakeholder-led professional services environment. Location: London office minimum 3 days per week with travel throughout the UK as required to deliver events programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership & stakeholder engagement: Lead the end-to-end management of the firm’s events programme across in person, virtual and hybrid formats, ensuring alignment with firmwide strategy and sector priorities. Act as a senior events adviser to partners, BD managers and marketing colleagues, shaping event objectives, formats and delivery models to maximise impact. Champion best practice in legal-sector event delivery, advising on differentiation, client experience and market positioning.
- Governance, risk & brand stewardship: Own events governance, working closely with procurement, risk and compliance teams to assess and mitigate risk, manage supplier due diligence and ensure adherence to firm policies. Ensure consistent application of the firm’s brand, visual identity and tone across all physical and digital event touchpoints. Maintain firmwide standards for event quality, accessibility, data capture and post event reporting.
- Delivery oversight & financial accountability: Oversee complex event production, ensuring efficient delivery across venues, logistics, catering, AV, content, registration and delegate experience. Hold budgetary accountability for events, ensuring spend is managed appropriately, value for money is demonstrated, and client spend protocols are adhered to. Lead supplier and venue relationships, including commercial negotiation and performance management.
- Performance, insight & continuous improvement: Define success measures for events in partnership with BD and marketing colleagues. Lead post event evaluation, combining qualitative feedback and quantitative data to assess ROI and inform future planning. Use insight and market trends to continuously evolve the firm’s events offering.
- Team leadership: Provide direction, coaching and quality oversight to Events Executives and coordinators, embedding high standards and supporting professional development.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Significant experience delivering complex, stakeholder-led events within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proven ability to operate with senior stakeholders, exercising judgement, influence and discretion.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget ownership and supplier negotiation.
- Experience managing people and/or providing senior oversight of delivery teams.
- Calm, confident and decisive, with the ability to manage competing priorities at pace.
