We are looking to recruit a Newly Qualified Solicitor qualifying in September 2026 to join our Motor Injury team in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for an NQ solicitor with a genuine interest in defendant motor work to develop their career within a market‑leading national practice. You will handle a range of motor injury, credit hire and damage claims, acting for insurers and major corporate clients, with exposure to cases of varying value, complexity and severity. Our National team advises a broad client base including leading insurers and household‑name corporates. The wider practice covers defendant litigation across catastrophic injury, motor, casualty, disease, product liability, professional negligence and health & safety, alongside increasing involvement in pre‑emptive advice and dispute resolution.
What you will do?
- Running and assisting on a varied caseload of litigated motor claims, including cases with disputed liability
- Attending court and counsel meetings where appropriate
- Working towards and maintaining individual financial and performance targets, including settlement rates, realisation rates and average claim spend
- Supporting marketing and business development activity, such as attending client events and training sessions
- Taking responsibility for quality control and compliance on own caseload, including accurate and timely management information
- Maintaining awareness of the firm’s procedures, systems and strategic objectives
- Developing technical knowledge through training, supervision and self‑directed learning
- Handling confidential information in line with the firm’s data security and governance procedures
Who you are
- Due to qualify as a Solicitor in September 2026
- A strong interest in, and enthusiasm for, motor injury, credit hire and damage work
- Previous experience in claimant or defendant litigation during a training contract is desirable
- Able to adopt a commercial and pragmatic approach to legal issues, with a strong client focus
- A confident communicator, able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
- High level of attention to detail and ability to produce work to a consistently high standard
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Flexible, proactive and self‑motivated
