DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint a Paralegal to join our Claims Solutions Group (CSG) Specialist Liability team. The role involves attending the office when required and supporting the defence of claims in areas such as abuse, HRA, discrimination, equality, deprivations of liberty, and misfeasance.
What you will do:
- Draft chronologies, statements and court documents.
- Assist with disclosure of sensitive documentation, including redaction.
- Maintain key date reminders and ensure a timetable for case progression to resolution.
- Keep internal and external case management documents and records of accurate management information.
- Communicate with clients, third parties and claimants’ solicitors to facilitate case progression.
- Attend trials and applications with counsel.
- Comply with internal and external service level agreements.
- Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.
- Develop technical knowledge through online courses, training sessions and appropriate publications.
- Liaise with accounts on billing queries and support marketing and business development activity.
- Achieve a minimum budgeted annual target of 1,440 chargeable hours per year and meet individual financial targets.
Who you are:
- A keen interest and enthusiasm for Specialist Liability work, especially high‑value, complex, sensitive cases.
- Excellent organisational and IT skills for producing and managing complex documentation.
- Detail‑conscious, able to produce high‑standard work for demanding clients.
- Ability to pull relevant evidence from document‑heavy cases.
- Empathy for public‑sector clients.
- A team player with a flexible, self‑motivated approach and the ability to work independently and learn from supervisors.
Desirable:
- Good commercial awareness.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, including outside core hours.
- Experience in a target‑driven commercial environment.
- Prior exposure to Specialist Liability claims is helpful but not essential.
