Paralegal – Specialist Liability (Claims Solutions Group)

DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint a Paralegal to join our Claims Solutions Group (CSG) Specialist Liability team. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office when required. The Specialist Liability team acts for leading names in the insurance industry, large public sector organisations and household name corporates. We specialise in complex claims involving abuse, the HRA, discrimination and Equality Act claims, deprivations of liberty, misfeasance and other linked areas.
Responsibilities
- Draft chronologies, statements and court documents;
- Assist with disclosure of sensitive documentation, including redaction;
- Ensure appropriate key‑date reminders are in place on all matters;
- Maintain case‑management documents and record accurate information;
- Correspond with clients, third parties and claimants’ solicitors to ensure case progression to resolution;
- Attend trials and applications (with counsel);
- Comply with internal and external service‑level agreements;
- Handle confidential information in line with the firm’s data‑security protocols;
- Develop technical knowledge through online courses, training sessions and relevant publications;
- Liaise with accounts on billing queries;
- Support marketing and business‑development activity within the team;
- Achieve a minimum budgeted annual target of 1,440 chargeable hours per year;
- Meet individual financial targets.
Qualifications Essential
- Enthusiasm for Specialist Liability work and particularly high‑value, complex, sensitive cases;
- Excellent organisational and IT skills to produce and manage complex documentation;
- Detail‑conscious and able to produce high‑standard work for demanding clients;
- Ability to dig into document‑heavy and complex cases to extract relevant evidence and data;
- Empathy for the public sector clients;
- Team player with flexible, self‑motivated approach;
- Able to work on own initiative and learn from supervisors and team members.
Desirable
- Good commercial awareness;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, including outside core hours;
- Experience in a target‑driven commercial environment;
- Previous experience with Specialist Liability claims is helpful but not essential.
