Experienced Project/Program Manager for Plant Engineering Projects (UK)

We are seeking an experienced Project/Program Manager to oversee and manage plant engineering projects in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading engineering projects and managing senior-level customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage single or multiple plant engineering projects from initiation to completion.
  • Manage contractual obligations related to design, including NEC contracts.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations and standards in the UK.
  • Manage relationships with senior-level customers.
  • Develop and maintain a network of local engineering partners.
  • Monitor project performance and progress against time, cost, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Lead teams of professionals delivering major projects or portfolios of smaller projects.
  • Support project development during the early stages of the project lifecycle with technical and commercial disciplines.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, clarify requirements, and maintain involvement in key decisions.

Qualifications

  • A degree or similar qualification in engineering or project management.
  • A relevant professional qualification with APM, PMI, RICS, or similar.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership with a relevant body (e.g., APM, CIWEM, ICE, CIOB, RICS).
  • Proven track record of delivering engineering projects in a similar role with several years of experience.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to unexpected events and develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to achieve key targets within resource limits.
  • Experience managing NEC contracts or similar arrangements.
  • Skills in cost, schedule, H&S, change, and risk management.

Preferred but Not Essential

  • Experience working in a client organization in a lead delivery role.
  • NEC Project Manager Accreditation.
